Onshore power supply
Onshore Power Supply (OPS) is a key part of Port Esbjerg’s efforts to support the green transition and reduce emissions from maritime operations. By enabling vessels to connect to shore-side electricity while at berth, OPS allows generators to be switched off, reducing CO₂ emissions, noise, and air pollution. In 2025, 1,740 MWh of electricity was supplied to vessels through OPS, enabling avoided emissions of approximately 386 tCO₂e and demonstrating how port infrastructure can support cleaner and more sustainable shipping.
Electrification & Transport
Electricity consumption and transport activities are closely monitored as part of Port Esbjerg's environmental efforts and ongoing transition towards more electrified operations. Electricity is increasingly being used across leased facilities and port-related activities, reflecting growing demand for low-carbon solutions throughout the port area. At the same time, fuel and electricity consumption from vehicles and operational equipment are tracked to provide transparency and support the gradual shift from fossil-fuel-based operations to more sustainable and energy-efficient alternatives.
